Poor Ned, in times of great distress
Would hide himself beneath his desk.
To answer threats both great or small
he wouldn’t leave his spot at all,
And hid there to allay his fears,
remaining there for years and years!
What seemed to him a life well spent
was really just imprisonment.
And when at last he ventured out
from underneath his small redoubt,
Poor Ned, unluckiest of chaps,
was killed when his whole house collapsed.
True, one can try to hide away,
bad luck will find you anyway.
